Future Fund seeks applications for 2010 grants

The Future Fund, an affiliate of The Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro, is accepting applications for grants that fit this year’s grantmaking theme: Supporting Educational Programs for Children and Youth.

Successful grant awards will make a meaningful difference in the funded project, program or organization’s ability to do its work and accomplish its goals – and the outcome should create a positive impact and improvement for the education of our area’s children and youth.

Instructions and forms for applying for a 2010 Future Fund grant are available by clicking here. The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. on Tuesday, August 31, 2010.

Applications will be reviewed by the Future Fund Grantmaking committee in September. Successful grantees will be notified in October.

About Future Fund
The Future Fund was started in 1999 by The Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro. Ann Lineweaver, then chair of the Foundation’s board of directors, suggested the concept of the Future Fund to educate a younger audience about philanthropy and engage young leaders. She approached Louise and Jim Brady, local young professional leaders, to chair the Future Fund, and they recruited 264 people to join them in their first year. The Future Fund continued to grow, with an average of 300 members a year and a mention in Time magazine. To date, the Future Fund has distributed $340,000 in grants. Currently, the group is made up of 250 members. The Future Fund continues to be an initiative of The Community Foundation, which holds its Ann Lineweaver Future Fund Endowment.
