Alamance County Human Resources Association Scholarship
The Alamance County Human Resources Association Scholarship in Business was established in 1992 to provide financial assistance to college students majoring in a business related discipline. Open to seniors graduating from Alamance County high schools who have been accepted into business related programs at an accredited 2 or 4 year college or university. Preference will be given to children of employees of companies represented in the Human Resource Association of Alamance County.

Alley, Williams, Carmen & King Scholarship

Established in 1991 by Alley, Williams, Carmen & King, Inc. to promote engineering and architectural professions. Open to seniors graduating from high schools in the Alamance-Burlington School system, from the NC School of Science and Mathematics or the NC School of the Arts whose primary residence is in Alamance County.

George Heckman Memorial Scholarship

Established in 1995 to honor the memory of George Heckman who coached football at Graham High School from 1946 – 1965. Open to college-bound graduates of GRAHAM HIGH SCHOOL who have participated in the school’s football program.

Alamance Foundation Awards Scholarships for 2007

Alley, Williams Carmen & King Scholarship

Scott Boone, Eastern Alamance High School, has won the Alley, Williams, Carmen & King Scholarship in Civil Engineering and Architecture for the year 2007.  He will attend the NC State University, majoring in Civil Engineering. Alley, Williams, Carmen & King is an engineering and architecture firm with offices in Burlington and Greensboro. Its annual scholarship is funded by gifts from company employees.

Alamance County Human Resources Association Scholarship


Michael Waggoner, Graham High School has been awarded the 2007 Alamance County Human Resources Association Scholarship in Business.  He will attend NCSU and pursue a degree in Business Marketing. 

Scholarship recipients are chosen on the basis of academic records, involvement in school and community activities, and commitment to a business career. Preference is given to applicants whose parents are employees of companies represented in the Alamance County Human Resources Association. The scholarship is funded by contributions and gifts from Association members.

Chic Lutz Memorial Scholarship

Paige Hudson, Stephanie Jones and Marian Maready are the recipients of the Faith Presbyterian Church Chic Lutz Memorial Scholarship.  Hudson attends Mitchell Community College; Jones is a student at East Carolina University and  Maready attends  GTCC.  This scholarship honors the memory of Robert M. (Chic) Lutz and is funded by members of the Faith Presbyterian Church.

George Heckman Memorial Scholarship


David Cheek, Jr.  receives the George Heckman Memorial Football Scholarship at Graham High School for 2007. Cheek played football all four years and was all conference, all region Wendy’s High School Heisman Nominee.

The Heckman Memorial Scholarship was established in 1995 by the children of Graham High School’s long-time football coach to honor his memory.

Harden Memorial Scholarship

Kyle Holt, graduating from Southern Alamance High School and Sidney Holt graduating from Graham High School are the 2007 award recipients for the Graham Presbyterian Church Harden Memorial Scholarship. Kyle Holt will attend East Carolina or Western Carolina and major in Business. Sidney Holt will attend either UNC-Chapel Hill or NCSU.

The Harden Memorial Scholarship was established in 1997 to provide financial assistance to college- bound students who have been active in the congregation.
