Introduction
The Public Art Endowment is thrilled to consider three very unique pieces for its 2011 project installation.

“These are three very exciting works, by three of the most important artists working today,” said Nancy Doll, director of Weatherspoon Art Museum at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and head of the Public Art Endowment Art Selection Committee. “They represent three highly individual voices and points of view, and they have presented us with three very distinct choices.”

Art selection process
The Public Art Endowment is governed by its trustees, who make all final decisions regarding art and project selections. Trustees are supported in their work by the Art Selection Committee.

Each year the committee recommends three works for consideration. Equal consideration is given to the exhibit location of these works. Trustees are then charged with making the final selection through votes cast at their annual meeting each May. This year’s meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 3.

During the initial phase of the Endowment, installations will be long-term but temporary. Once the Endowment reaches $2 million in pledged funds, works will be commissioned and/or purchased for permanent installation. The Endowment hopes to be able to begin permanent installations in 2014.
